A Bayesian approach for site-specific extreme load prediction of large scale bridges

چکیده

To measure uncertainties of site-specific extreme loads for a signature bridge, probabilistic method is developed based on structural health monitoring data in the Bayesian context. Compared with respective design loads, probability predicted load exceeding one used to determine whether sufficient. The generalized Pareto distribution was first employed model value information. Then, estimation applied predict distributions accounting within prediction process. Finally, effectiveness proposed validated through wind speed and temperature measurements from Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge. four types thermal were monitored loading by using distribution. As result, change uniform are sufficient bridge. However, that vertical girder difference exceeds 99.96%, probabilities subject transverse tower almost 100%.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

A limited memory adaptive trust-region approach for large-scale unconstrained optimization

This study concerns with a trust-region-based method for solving unconstrained optimization problems. The approach takes the advantages of the compact limited memory BFGS updating formula together with an appropriate adaptive radius strategy. In our approach, the adaptive technique leads us to decrease the number of subproblems solving, while utilizing the structure of limited memory quasi-Newt...

A Bayesian Approach to Large Scale Simultaneous Inference

We discuss Bayesian decision rules for highly multiple comparisons in the context of differential expression in microarray studies. Some of the advantages of our Bayesian approach include: flexible modeling of gene expressions, many options for decision rules to control either expectation or nonexpectation error rates, insensitivity to weak dependencies in the data, and pooling of results while...

A Bayesian Approach for the Recognition of Control Chart Patterns

In this research, an iterative approach is employed to recognize and classify control chart patterns. To do this, by taking new observations on the quality characteristic under consideration, the Maximum Likelihood Estimator of pattern parameters is first obtained and then the probability of each pattern is determined. Then using Bayes’ rule, probabilities are updated recursively. Finally, when...

Power Prediction in Large Scale Multiple Testing: A Fourier Approach

A problem that is frequently found in large-scale multiple testing is that, in the present stage of experiment (e.g. gene microarray, functional MRI), the signals are so faint that it is impossible to attain a desired level of testing power, and one has to enroll more samples in the follow-up experiment. Suppose we are going to enlarge the sample size by a times in the follow-up experiment, whe...
